Chapter 10.4 - Interfacing 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display with 8051 Microcontroller on Breadboard - Practical Tutorial

1. Now, as we told earlier, remove all your connections as shown in the following image.

2. Place your 7 Segment LED display as shown in the following image. Make sure it is in the center.

3. Connect Pin no 3 of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to VCC lane of breadboard.

4. When you look at the circuit from above, it will look something like shown in the below image.

5. Now connect the Pin no 8 of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Vcc lane of breadboard.

6. Now, just tally your bread board connection with the following image and cross check your connections.

7. Connect A pin of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Port 2.0 or Pin no 21 of 8051 Microcontroller.

8. Here is a closer view of the connection. Recheck it with the following given bread board connection.

9. Connect B pin of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Port 2.1 of 8051 Microcontroller.

10. Now Connect Pin C of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to the Port 2.2 Of 8051 Microcontroller.

11. Don't get confused by the connection, here is the closer picture of the connection.

12. And here is the look from front of the connection. Try to make it clean like shown in the given below image.

13. Now Connect Pin D of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Port 2.3 of 8051 Microcontroller.

14. Here is the closer view of the whole setup.

15. Now, connect the Pin E of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Port 2.4 of 8051 Microcontroller.

16. Here is the closer look of the connection. Just cross check it and move further.

17. Now Connect Pin F of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Port 2.5 of 8051 Microcontroller.

18. Now Connect Pin G of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to Port 2.6 of 8051 Microcontroller.

19. Here is the closer look at the connection.

20. From above, the circuit will look something like shown in the below image.

21. Now Connect the Pin 'DP' of 7 Segment(Common Anode) LED Display to the Port 2.7 of 8051 Microcontroller.

22. Here is the more closer view of the whole connection. Make sure you cross check the connection from the circuit diagram and below given bread board connection.

23. Now, Program the microcontroller and give it power supply and see the magic.
