Chapter 11.4 - Interfacing 16x2 LCD with 8051 Microcontroller on Breadboard - Tutorial Practical


No more wasting of time, lets begin with it.

1. Place your 16x2 LCD on breadboard and mount it as shown in the below image.

2. Here is the closer look so you can see the spacing and gap of 16x2 LCD placement on the breadboard.

3. Connect 1st pin of 16x2 LCD to the Gnd lane of bread board, as shown in the below image.

4. Connect 2nd pin of 16x2 LCD to the Vcc lane of breadboard as shown in the below image.

5. Connect Pin 15 of 16x2 LCD to Vcc lane of breadboard.

6. Connect Pin 16 of 16x2 LCD to Gnd lane of 8051 Microcontroller. Take the reference of below image.

7. Connect Pin 3 of 16x2 LCD to Gnd lane of 8051 Microcontroller.

8. Here is the closer look of the connection.

9. Connect Port 2.1 of 8051 Micrcontroller to Pin 4 of 16x2 LCD.

11. Connect Port 2.2 of 8051 Microcontroller to Pin 5 of 16x2 LCD.

12. Make sure the pin no are correct. Here is the closer view of the connection.

13. Connect Port 2.3 of 8051 Microcontroller to Pin no 6 of 16x2 LCD.

14. Here is the more closer look of the connection.

15. The bread board setup will look something like shown in the below image. Just make sure that it looks clean.

16. Now Connect Port 2.4 of 8051 Microcontroller to Pin 11 of 16x2 LCD.

17. Here is the closer look of the connection. Cross check and move forward.

18. Connect Port 2.5 of 8051 Microcontroller to Pin 12 of 16x2 LCD.

20. Connect Port 2.6 of 8051 Microcontroller to Pin 13 of 16x2 LCD.

21. Cross check the connection again to avoid any mistakes.

22. Connect Port 2.7 of 8051 Microcontroller to Pin 14 of 16x2 LCD.

23. Here is the more closer view of the setup.

24. And completed, we have completed the bread board connection. The whole bread board connection will look something like shown in the below image.

25. Now program the microcontroller and power up the circuit and see the result.
