Chapter 4.4 - 8051 On Breadboard with Switches and Multiple LED - Practical Tutorial

We hope that you have opened the circuit diagram in the alternate window because it is important to tally your circuit diagram with the practical implementation on the breadboard.

1. Now lets begin with the first step. Take one tactical switch and put it on the breadboard as show in the below image. Make sure the legs of the switch has been cut so as the switch would fit perfectly on the breadboard.

2. Here is a closer view below to help you clearly understand the placement.

3. Connect the one pin of tactical switch to the VCC so as to give logic 1 to the microcontroller when pressed. As show in the following image.

4. Make sure you have clean placement on the breadboard so as to avoid bad looking of breadboard. It should look "beautiful"

5. Now Connect the other pin of switch to the Port 2.0 which is pin no 21 of our 8051 microcontroller. If you have difficulty finding the pin no refer the theory part of second chapter and open it in the alternate tab.

6. Similarly Place the another tactical switch beside the first switch as show in the following image.

7. From above it would look something like this show in the below image.

8. Similarly Connect the connections of second switch - one pin in the vcc and one pin connected to Port 2.1 or pin no 22 of 8051 microcontroller.

9. Make sure the length of wire is perfect so as to make it look clean. It is important since it would also help you troubleshooting the circuit easier.

10. Tally your breadboard setup with the following image so as to avoid any mistakes.

11. Similarly, put the third tactical switch and connect it to Port 2.2 or Pin no 23 and other end to the VCC on the breadboard.

12. And then similarly connect the last and the fourth switch to the pin no 24 of microcontroller which is our Port 2.3. And done.

13. And your breadboard will look something like this. Easy huh? But wait we have to program it also. Just cross check your connections once again and start with the next chapter. Best of luck with the programming.
